Details on how your personal information is stored and handled by us
While we'd love to believe that all of this goes without saying, we won't share your personal information with anyone, anywhere, ever (well ... unless we have a nice court order written on heavy, official-looking paper, anyway). We try to keep only the kind of information we need for our own legal and financial records (mostly to keep the tax ogres from descending on us and crushing our frail little bones and smearing them over toast for breakfast), as well as to build a real user community where people can get to know the other participants and benefit from their involvement on this site. We don't require registration to view most of the content on this site, though, or even to order from the online store, so feel free to browse in complete anonymity as long as you want!
Having said that, we have had to require user registration before users can comment on certain pages or participate in some specific parts of our website. We realize registering on sites can be bothersome, but this isn't some creepy data-mining operation (maybe if it was we could actually pay our bills!), it's just the sad reality that the site would be full of Viagra advertisements if we didn't raise the bar a bit, however slightly.
it's actually kind of nice to attach a name to a face (err ... comment) as well, though, and if you find yourself coming back to our site regularly and want to participate, we hope you will consider registering just because it can get kind of lonely here all by ourselves, and we'd love nothing more than to build a real community of micro-manufacturers. As much as we love to hear our own voices, we're hoping someone else will chime in on certain topics as well. But rest assured that any information you provide (basically just a name and email address) will be kept confidential, and we won't be secretly spamming you with offers of solder-paste-performance-enhancing substances.
What About the microBuilder Store?
Precisely because we hate giving our credit card numbers to shops that we aren't very familiar with, we've decided to only use Paypal for online payments for the moment. It actually costs us more than handling the transactions ourselves with a local 3rd-party, but we thought that the added expense was worth is since it gives you the absolute assurance that your credit card information is never stored anywhere except on Paypal's servers. We realise Paypal may not appeal to everyone (let us know if you really think we should change this policy!), but we want to be sure that your credit card information is handled safely and securely, and that we aren't responsible for that heavy burden ourselves (trust me ... we have enough things to fret over already!).
Questions or Concerns?
If you have any specific questions or concerns about the information we store on our servers, or are convinced that we're doing nefarious things with it, please feel free to contact us directly and let your paranoid schizophrenic inner-voice say what's on its' mind! We'd be more than happy to hear from you (err, 'it')!
