Building GCC from Source in Ubuntu 10.10

Thursday, February 03, 2011

Roel Verdult (from libnfc.org) was kind enough to update the tutorial on Building an ARM GCC Toolchain from Source to work on Linux as well (specifically, Ubuntu 10.10).  It took about two hours to build using VirtualBox and a fresh Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop installation, but it worked perfectly out of the box.  The current script builds GCC 4.5.2 and newlib 1.19, but it's very easy to modify the file to use a different version whenever new updates are available.

A big thanks to Roel for the update and to Uwe Hermann who wrote the original script file and placed it in the public domain.
